I feel very strongly that kids need someone safe to talk to - especially our teens and young adults. Teachers and school counselors do not have the same time they once did to just ‘talk’ to our kids. I truly enjoy the stories and insight youth have to share. I enjoy listening to them and offering new, positive ways of looking at situations. More than anything, I like being a source of support and a person they know they can rely on. Stress, anxiety and depression are rampant amongst youth. If I can help alleviate some of that we all benefit. But rest assured - I am also a well seasoned veteran of the ways of the teen!
I am a Professional Counsellor, Intuitive Guide, Youth and Family Support Worker; and old school/new school “Mom”. I have a son and daughter who have both battled mental health issues their whole lives. Growing up, this greatly affected their school attendance and there was very little viable or sustainable support available to us. They were also competitive dancers which came with its own unique set of “stuff”! It was a truly natural progression going back to school for counseling. My youngest was a covid grad; the pandemic shut the world down; I turned 50; went through a divorce; and, my kids moved across the Country. Nothing like first hand examples for teachable moments!
When I started my counselling journey I knew I wanted to focus on youth and the stress and anxiety they deal with in today’s world. I am also an intuitive guide and healer and knew whatever path I chose would not be traditional. I originally created Novalife as a way to ‘label’ my approach. As with anything, my plan continues to morph as I learn and grow. Novalife now represents my overall approach to therapy as opposed to a specific ‘formula’.

As you get older you get very reflective. I’m not saying I’m getting older, but I am getting reflective. Ok...I’m getting older - but I’m learning to love it and that’s because I’m excited for this new chapter! I know there is a whole world of us looking for alternative healing modalities and a whole world of them out there! What I can offer is guidance navigating these modern methods balanced by he comfort, confidentiality and resources of a Counselor.
The professional stuff... I have been a Legal Assistant, Executive Director in the music industry, Office Manager/Bookkeeper, Foster Caregiver, Seamstress/Designer, Show Director, Medical Transcriptionist, and above all else - Mom. My kids have both struggled with debilitating stress and anxiety which was utterly defeating to navigate. I’m proud that we got through it and that we were at the forefront of bringing awareness to the lack of support for youth and their mental mental health - but we were also lucky. We need affordable and sustainable options for mental health support. I went back to college and received my Professional Counselor Certification with the goal of helping youth manage stress and anxiety. What I have found however, is the world of counselling is an incredibly individual, potentially expensive and stigmatized undertaking that can feel overwhelming.
The question however is - do Metaphysical, Life Coaching and Counselling make sense together? ABSOLUTELY! When I started this endeavour I was told numerous times that these worlds did not fit. I tried separating them but it just doesn’t feel right - at least not to me. I am also extremely excited to be able to provide; suggest; and connect you with more modalities such as access bars, reiki, yoga, essential oils, mediumship and a variety of health services with my Ametha Team to help you navigate and succeed in whatever your betterment goals may be. Let’s learn and grow together!
